Gateway students complete work experience in commercial salons and are assessed on relevant standards in hairdressing while still enrolled at school. This is a fabulous programme for those who may be considering a career in hairdressing. Enrollments are accepted through your secondary school. Talk to your Gateway Co-ordinator.

As a Gateway student you will receive an introduction to this wonderful industry. Whether you have always wanted to be a hairdresser or you just want to try it out to see what it is really like, this is a great way to start.
The Waikato School of Hairdressing Ltd Gateway programme is intended to be completed as a package and will complement the learning you are getting in your workplace salon.
We have grouped together a number of interesting and very achievable unit standards for you to complete. We also provide set days during the year where you can attend our training center for instruction and assessment.
