TRAINING RECORD BOOK AND COLLECTION OF EVIDENCE
This is your bible. It is your responsibility to ensure that the evidence you are collecting is signed by your employer/trainer prior to attending off job training. You must bring your training record book to off-job training every day you attend. You must look after your training record book. It is important that your collection of evidence is up to date. You can not sit an assessment for a task that does not have the required amount of evidence signed off.
If you have achieved unit standards on a full time training programme you will need to ask them to sign these off in your training record book prior to the first day of off-job training.
This collection of evidence is a VITAL part of the assessment process.
1. The reason you collect evidence is to confirm that tasks are being completed regularly in the salon, to the required standard. This means on different clients, within stated timeframes, and following the Hairdressers Health Regulations and Manufacturers Instructions, and Health and Safety Requirements.
2. The collection of evidence confirms that the apprentice is ready for assessment. Validly signed evidence should decrease the need for re-assessment.
3. Ask your employer/trainer to sign the evidence section of your training record book when you can perform the task without assistance. Every box must be signed prior to assessment.
4. You must bring your training record book every day you attend off-job training
5. You will find Instructions to the Candidate for every unit standard you are expected to achieve this year at the back of this induction book. Please take the time to read these as they provide valuable information that you need to know to collect valid evidence and achieve assessments.
You must have all evidence for all assessments signed off in your training record book prior to attending block two.
